Security National Properties is a commercial real estate firm with operations in downtown Eureka. This development is a legacy project where ownership and operation will stay here in the county. We are working with a local architecture firm that has been using community input to design housing that will blend in with current structures and architecture.
Much like our other projects, such as the Eureka 5th Street Plaza and the Performing Arts Center, the Indianola project is intended to support the community and ensure ongoing benefits of their use for many years to come. We are making a commitment to the community and want this development to be something we can all be proud of.
Humboldt County, like much of California, is experiencing a housing crisis. The development of this property helps to fulfill recommendations in multiple city and county plans such as The Waterfront Eureka Plan, The Humboldt County General Plan, and the expansion of Cal Poly Humboldt. After much research, we determined the best use for this property was for community housing.
The cost is not funded by taxpayers and does not require purchase of any property or land from others. This property will generate local tax revenues from property taxes paid on the development.
The Indianola project is intended to support the growth happening in Humboldt County. It can provide housing for the area’s general population, students, and workforce.
As residents of Humboldt County ourselves, we are committed to growth that is economically sound, environmentally friendly, and supportive of community livability. The Indianola development will be built in compliance with the CalGreen requirements of the California Building Code and support the smart growth already happening in our area by using high-quality sustainable systems and materials, electric energy and renewable resources, and building with carbon-reducing transportation options in mind.
